The Motown Museum may be moving to a new home. The Motown Center, a proposed entertainment facility and museum, could be constructed very soon. Three architectural firms (one from Detroit and two from NYC) have been chosen; signaling the progression of the facility. The Motown project has been in the works for about three years and the building may be much bigger than originally thought. The cost of the new center has been projected to be $28 million, but could cost as much as $60 million to build. Although some money has already been raised, a fund-raising campaign will start shortly. The Motown Center will be located on the corner of I-75 and Woodward Avenue. Motown Records founder Barry Gordy Jr. has already pledged his support for the new facility.
