At the Masonic Temple, on a cold cold night in downtown Detroit, the White Stripes were set to play the second show of two sold out homecoming gigs.
In an effort to entertain people before the bands came on stage, old time cartoons where played on a big movie screen at the front of the house. When Felix the Cat was done doing his thing, The Paybacks took the stage and kicked things off with the song “Scotch Love”. The band sounded great, playing songs off of their album “Knock Loud”. At one point singer Wendy Case encouraged everyone to come down to the stage, and much of the crowd took her advice. The band closed the show by inviting thier original guitar player, Marco Delicato, to join them on “Tie Me In A Knot”.
The crowd erupted as Meg White took the stage first, looking amazing in a white shirt with red leather pants. Jack then came out escorted by Tracee Miller, of Blanche fame, who was dressed as a nurse – symbolic of the fact this was Jack’s first home show since his accident.
