CHARLIE MURPHY! ENJOY YOURSELF!
Being a terrible child is clearly underrated. With sweet electro-dance pumping and booze flowing like the polluted Detroit River, the kids at Les Infants Terrible seemed to be having a blast. The turntables were in the best of hands all night. Adam Lee Miller and Nicola Kuperas (Adult.) got people grooving and even brought in the rockers – Dirtbomb drummer Pat Pantano was on hand to check them out. The scenes were quite interesting as well – the Peacock’s centralized location (basement of the Broderick Building at Woodward & Grand Circus) makes for a continual stream of eclectic stragglers. There was the electro crowd of course, which included Ghostly guru Sam Valenti. Then there were the indie rockers cruising over from the Electric Six show at the Majestic, and Prada-sporting, slightly drunk suburbanites stumbling in from the high cover joints a few doors down like Bleu. Finally there were the struggling rapper types that would wander in for a few minutes, look confused and wander back up the stairs. Mingling wildly throughout the crowd was almost half the All Music Guide staff, including rock scribes Tom Erlewine and Heather Phares – and of course, the man of the evening, Rob Theakston. –Ryan Sult
