THE SILENT YEARS

Rag Wrap – July 29 ,2005

If you’re going to the Warped Tour this weekend and I don’t know why you wouldn’t be, make you sure you check out the local bands that will be playing throughout the day. Bands include Heads Will Roll, Grande Nationals, The Dollfaces and Ettison Clio just to name a few.

The News has it’s first 10 finalists for the Sonic Summer Battle of the Bands contest and you get to vote who goes on. If you love freedom you should excercise your right to vote.

Pitchfork reviews the latest Iggy Pop collection “A Million in Prizes” which is a a 2 disc set spanning his 40 years of recording.

Rachel May has news on Shipwreck Union and The Satin Peaches.

WDET will be having a garage sale this Saturday to raise funds for the station. Cd’s, records and books are just some of the things that will be sold. Admission is $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.WDET is located on West Canfield between Cass and Woodward.
In more garage sale news, head over to Ferndale on Saturday & Sunday for the 3rd Annual Life Affirming Rock and Roll Garage Sale. The sale will be taking place at 418 E. Cambourne in Ferndale (on Cambourne east of Woodward, north of 9 Mile). I hear that rock and roll people will be selling rock and roll things, sounds hot.

Just asking, why is Hootie and the Blowfish playing at Freedom Hill, err Jerome Duncan or whatever it’s called on Saturday and DTE on Sunday? Is the demand that great for them? Who knew?

We would like to extend our condolences and congrats to MCR scribe Mr. Gary who will be getting married on Saturday. He is also moving to Denver next week as well so if you’re not doing anything on Sunday night stop by the Garden Bowl to say, congrats, goodbye, I’m sorry, you reviewed my band and I hate you, you’re creepy or whatever else.
