Holy fuck, it just took me 20 minutes to blow the dust off my Blogger account and remember my password.
Howdy, folks – ’tis Denver’s own Mr. Gary once again. It goes without saying that over the course of 2006, things have gotten a little lax here at MCR Headquarters. We’ve put our heads together in a long-distance sense, and we’ve decided that being lax sucks.
As such, over the next month or so, you’ll probably see a few changes made around these parts. Some pieces of MCR will be axed permanently, while others will be tweaked; surely, there’s the possibility that new features may be added, as well. Most importantly, beginning Monday, February 12th, we’ll be updating the Detroit Dish daily – whether it be links, reviews, quick newsbites, or even just an essay on what we had for lunch that day.
More importantly, MCR would like to attempt to establish itself as a purveyor of Detroit area music reviews, be it 7″ records, full vinyl, CDs, cassettes, 8-tracks, reel-to-reel … A pair of us at MCR are pretty steeped in Detroit music history, as well, so we’d like to delve into more ‘retro’ Detroit music as well.
Two things that are undyingly important are the following:
ONE: We’d like to make it clear by restating what was just typed – that we’re MAJORLY gung-ho about wanting to review Detroit-area/Michigan music here on the website. Admittedly, reviews may take a lot of different forms, ranging anywhere from two-sentence blurbs to potentially thesis-length pontifications. The main point is that MCR is aiming to become THE review source for local music … This is important because as a Denverite, I want to keep the ‘MCR Dream’ alive, and the most consistent way I can do that from Colorado is to spit words for as much stuff as I can get my hands on; I can’t say much about shows (excepting the Detroiters that float out my way), but I can surely ramble about the music itself.
TWO: MCR is currently mulling over the most effective way to keep some sort of current ‘show’ calendar up on the site. Sure, we each have some free time to pour through the web to find show dates/info, but it’s always a huge help to us when folks are willing to take 30 seconds or so to drop us a quick e-mail about a band we aren’t aware of or a show they’d like plugged.
Those points being said, I want to say that MCR is also very open to accepting suggestions and, moreso, contributions for the website content. Saying that we’re ‘low budget’ is an understatement, so there’s obviously no financial compensation. However, it would be great if anyone would be willing to share a few words or photos pertaining to live shows. We’ll make a big deal about crediting your work because we’re rad like that.
Well, we’d love to turn the comments on, but we mauled our current MAJORLY outdated Blogger template and we can’t quite do that right now. However, anyone with website ideas/music submissions/concert dates/band suggestions/bean burritos, etc. should e-mail both matt@motorcityrocks.com and gary@motorcityrocks.com and let us know what you have to say.
