Icky Shuffle Whould Have Been Alot Cooler to Us
... Details from Billboard.com about the title of the forthcoming White Stripes album.... Spending time this morning shuffling back and forth between browsers, blogs and Dreamweaver for work stuff, and found myself spinning an old mix CD with a handful of ripped 7" tracks from two late, great Michigan bands I miss IMMENSELY, Small Brown Bike and Kid Brother Collective.
Of course, not all was lost, as Mike Reed and Dan Jaquint of Small Brown Bike eventually swirled back together with the suave stylings of LaSalle, also featuring Charlevoix's Katy Carolan Reed. Check out the band's official website (featuring MP3s of the songs "Oasis In the Sun" and "Kissinger"), or head to the LaSalle MySpace Page and take a listen to "Move, Stop Repeat," "Little Kicks," and "Don't Call." Oh yeah, and Katy's also got some solo acoustic racket going on known as Cookie - take in a tune here.
Also, MCR regrets not making previous mention of the fact that a pair of our favorite musical compadres took home Real Detroit's Best Local Radio Show nod in this week's Best of Detroit 2007 issue ... Many congrats and hugs go out to Melody Licious and Suzy Cole for their hard work on Detroit Local 101, heard weekly at 10 p.m., Tuesday nights via HD Radio or Riff2.com.
