Thanks to the readers of the Metro Times for once again voting MCR “Best Local Music Blog”.
“What began on a whim a few years back has become a one-stop for local music loyalists and international fans of all things Motor City rock ‘n’ roll. The site has truckloads of passion and links to worthy Detroit music stories and some heady commentary. Sure, MCR kicks up in fits and starts — some bits haven’t been updated since summer last year — and you get the feeling those behind it are, oh, just a little hung over. But its voice is young and pure. Ain’t that rock ‘n’ roll?”
(MISTER GARY would like to interject here to say that while MCR would, indeed, like to thank the Academy of Halfassedness for the prized honor, I can’t help but wonder why 99.4% of the internet even exists any longer; the only sites bearing any relevance to me these days are WEBVOMIT and I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER, heh)
We can’t say it’s really well deserved, or that we are “young and pure” but we’ll take it anyway. However we are still waiting for that award plaque thing that we always see around town in various places. MCR’s good pal Jasper over at Webvomit was awarded the MT staff pick of “Greatest Site in the History of the Internet” or something like that. Make sure you check out the list all of the “Best Of” winner’s.
