Every songwriter you listed writes garage rock except Mr. Miller. Let's be honest here, writing garage rock music does not take a great deal of songwriting talent and this applies to Jack's early music and some of his new music as well. It doesn't make it bad by any means, it's my favorite kind of music, but as far as songwriting craft goes it's pretty low there on the totem pole. So I understand what he's saying.
