LIGHTNING LOVE

Rag Wrap – April 1, 2009

Don’t fret, Thomas Video has just moved down the road from Clawson to their new digs in Royal Oak (the owners of Thomas Video are also the same guys behind Detroit’s first “official” punk rock band Cinecyde).

Calling all local bands, THE STATION (a brand new independent, non-commercial, low power, AM radio station broadcasting in Hamtramck) will be launching on May 1st, 2009, is  now soliciting material from all Michigan artists and plan to feature local and independent music. If you’re an independent artist and can legally license your material, send a CD to: THE STATION 11758 Sobieski Hamtramck, MI 48212 Please include the act’s name, geographic origin, and any other information that might help them identify you.

Lookie, lookie, Javelins were recently live on Daytrotter - hear, read and download the Javelins’ session here.

The Von Bondies‘ hit “C’mon C’mon” is now availbable for download on Rock Band 2, and the Von Bondies will be playing for free on Friday night with Lightning Love at the Hockeytown Cafe Uconn Final Four Party.

Also part of this weekend’s Final Four fun is the outstanding Motor City Rock Revue on Sunday at the Magic Stick.

Theatre Bizarre takes on the Easter Bunny in Wonderland and I’m stoked!

TIME magazine predicts what the future of Detroit will be like. Key quote: “Asked recently about a dip in the city’s murder rate, a mayoral candidate deadpanned, ‘I don’t mean to be sarcastic, but there just isn’t anyone left to kill.’”
