Nick Olivieri has some serious musical chops and the resume to prove it. He’s worked not only as a key member in several seminal bands from past fifteen years, but has been a spark of electricity for each project he works on. This cutting edge of thrash really lets you see this frighteningly honest man to his naked core–I mean that figuratively and literally, as he is known for being semi to full-on nude on stage.
Nick Olivieri, aka Rex Everything, started out in the early nineties with Kyuss, where he would later go on to form The Queens of the Stone Age. A very prolific musician, Olivieri worked through this time on other projects like The Dwarves and Mondo Generator, which became his main musical project after leaving QOTSA.
His music has been described as many things from Stoner Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative, to Punk Rock. Whatever one may label him as, he is a driving force of heavy rhythms, strong riffs, and primal screams.
One of his newer releases, “Death Acoustic”, is an acoustic punk album, where, in a ballsy choice, Rex Everything convincingly conjures up the wretched ghost of GG Allen and covers “Outlaw Scumfuck”.
Nick Olivieri will be at Small’s Friday, February 5th for an all acoustic set. Motor City Rocks will be there to talk with him. See you there.
