Auburn Hills is one of the newer Detroit suburbs (established in 1983 from the 1983 from the defunct Pontiac Township) and is located about thirty miles outside of the city. There are several points of interest near the Auburn Hills area -the world headquarters of Chrysler and BorgWarner, shopping mall Great Lakes Crossing  and The Palace (home of the Detroit Pistons, Shock and host to many large concerts).  Just a few miles away in Clarkston, MI is DTE Energy Music Theatre (outdoor amphitheater that hosts large summer concets), and in nearby Rochester Hills, MI you will find Meadowbrook Music Festival (outdoor amphitheater) on the campus of Oakland University.
