formed
lansing: 1994
members
Thomas Jackson Potter (vocals, guitar), Nick Lloyd (drums)
Bantam Rooster is drunken, hillbilly-influenced bluesy rock at its best.  The duo has an edgy sound which, at times, is all out brash (“Dumb It Down”), yet can also be highly melodic and lyrical (“Perceptive Pornstar”).  Like the White Stripes, they take the minimalist duo approach to garage rock.  Over the years, Bantam Rooster  has been a Thomas Jackson Potter project with a few changes in drummers – Eric Cook, Mike Alonso and currently Nick Lloyd (of the infamous Dirtys and the Buzzards).  Jim Diamond (of The Dirtbombs and Ghetto Recorders) has been dubbed the ‘3rd Rooster’ -- he's performed with Bantam a number of times and contributed his legendary production talents.  The group started out on Crypt Records in 1996 and eventually moved over to the Sympathy for the Record Industry label with Fuck All Y'All in 2000.

Bantam Rooster disbanded in 2003 as singer Tom Potter formed funk rock crew the Detroit City Council.
