Jack White Directs Music Video, Europeans Go Crazy

So it looks as though Jack White has stepped into the directors chair for The Dead Weathers’ latest music video for “Cut Like A Buffalo”.  The video premiered on British television early today.

Jack White Gives Back To Detroit

Jack White did a great thing for the city of Detroit last fall. Unbeknownst to many, White donated $170,000 to help a baseball park near his childhood neighborhood.  Here’s what Rolling Stone reported:

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that White’s oldest sister Maureen, the oldest of 10 siblings, was married to “Coach Mo.” Blackwell is also the father of Ben Blackwell, White’s cousin and the White Stripes’ archivist. While it hasn’t been confirmed that White donated the money — the lawyer demanded the donation be anonymous — Blackwell and Sumner seem pretty convinced it came from White. Construction on Clark Park started last autumn, with the field opening in time for baseball this summer. New dugouts and grandstands were reportedly built with the donations. [read more]

Dead Weather Remix

Being that Metro Detroit natives Dean Fertita (guitar) and Jack White (drums) are back into town tonight for their Dead Weather show at the Filmore Detroit, I’ve decided to post a link to this Diplo Remix of the band’s “Treat Me Like Your Mother” (FYI: Diplo is an island, electronic, reggae mix master form Trinadad)  Also, you can check The Freep’s interview with Dean Fertitia here and Waxwings back story here.

Third Man Records In NYC

MCR “godfather” Sultan was at the temporary Third Man Records store yesterday in NYC.  It’s temporary since it’s only open for two days while the Dead Weather play a show at Terminal 5 in New York.  My take on this is, it’s kind of like those Halloween shops around town that open up four weeks prior at empty retail space around town and then suddenly disappear on November 1st.  But anyways, Sultan took these snap shots including one of Jack White out front (FYI, Sultan’s new job is with TMZ).

Music Video: “Treat Me Like Your Mother” – The Dead Weather

So this debut, “El mariachi-esque” music video form the Dead Weather premiered on Cinemax this past Saturday night. The concept of this video is really great but man are the props, fake blood and setting downright horrible (but then again maybe that was the point). It was directed by Jonathan Glazer of Sexy Beast fame, and by the look of it I’m guessing he really likes the idea of sand in his projects.

Don’t buy a home in a new subdivision kids, cause ya might get shot!

Jack White’s Third Man Records; which is home to The White Stripes, Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, is trying out a new business model for a new music business age:

See Jack Act

The new MLive Detroit (which MCR contributes too), has the details on a little unknown Jack White movie acting gig from the late 1990′s in the movie Mutant Swingers From Mars by local cult horror movie director Michael Kallio.  The movie has new life as it will be shown later this month at Comic-Con (see Jack act at 1:06 and 1:40).

The Dead Weather

the dead weather The Dead Weather blanche The “internets” are ablaze this evening with the announcement of Jack White‘s latest super-group The Dead Weather – featuring Alison Mosshart (Kills) on vocals, guitarist Dean Fertita (Raconteurs, Waxwings, Queens of the Stone Age) and bassist Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs, Blanche, Greenhorns) and Jack White on drums and backing vocals (they’ve got two songs posted up on their web site now so check them out.)

Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride and Meg White, were among more than 150 guests at a private party to hear the debut Dead Weather album Horehound and to see a live performance by the group earlier today in Nashville. Jack White says the album will be released in June on his Third Man record label and that the band plans to tour throughout this year.

Editors Note: This is not the first time Jack White has played drums in a band before.  White played drums in the Detroit area bands Goober & The Peas and Two Star Tabernacle in the mid 1990′s with Dan Miller of Blanche.
