Ohio is our friend. Not only did it bring us the
Soledad Brothers, but now also the Cyril Lords. Originally the Bloody Hollys, the band now calls Detroit home. With a minimalist approach to soul-influenced garage rock, Detroiters have quickly found a fondness for the trio.
The band started as a two-piece outfit - Mayuko and Marty. Knowing the duo was looking to add a bassist, Ben Swank (of the
Soledad Brothers) introduced Sean, and the Cyril Lords were born. The band released their first EP as the Bloody Hollys in 2001. A second single, now as the Cyril Lords, came as one of the first releases of Ben Blackwell's Cass Records.
