Majestic Theater
Location:4120 Woodward Avenue
Detroit, MI
This 1000 capacity 1920’s-era art deco theatre is a fixture in the Cultural District along Detroit’s main drag, Woodward Avenue. Since 1987, The Majestic Theater has been one of Detroit’s best live music venues, serving up a wide variety of acts. Everyone from Sleater Kinney and G Love and Special Sauce to Los Lobos ad Wilco have played here. The Majestic Theatre complex is the epicenter of the Detroit rock scene, also housing the smaller pool hall venue The Magic Stick and the attached Alley Deck as well. Below the Stick is The Garden Bowl — which was the world’s first two floor bowling alley. Between the two is the Majestic Cafe, a restaurant serving up lunch and dinner for the unusually mixed patronage of indie rockers and orchestra-goers who venture across Woodward Avenue from Orchestral Hall. The Majestic has been long rumored to be the venue in which Harry Houdini made his last performance. Though a great claim to fame it would be, that was actually the nearby Garrick Theatre.
