Lager House
Location:1254 Michigan Avenue
Detroit, MI
No doubt about it – the Lager House is a Detroit rock institution. Following the close of the famous Gold Dollar, the Lager House has stepped in as a Detroit music headquarters. If you’re a Detroiter and you haven’t been here… well, shame on you. If you’re from out of town, put it on the list because this joint can’t be replicated in any other city. Located in Corktown, Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, this nitty-gritty bar has played host to some of Detroit’s finest bands and is a great joint to catch a band on the rise. The layout is basically two side-by-side rooms with a bar on one side and a performance space on the other. On the bar side you’ll see the posters of the legendary Detroit bands that have played the House – the Detroit Cobras, the Dirtbombs, the Witches, Whirlwind Heat and many more. Grab a drink and head over to the ‘Jerome P. Cavanaugh Social Room’ and see who’s taking the stage and shaking the rafters if you’re so inclined. The Lager House is our CBGB’s with a Detroit twist.
