The
FagsMagic Bag Ferndale, MI February 21, 2004 BLOWN AWAY! The Fags have blown the minds of another round of rock fans with their awesome brand of power pop. A packed crowd jammed into the >Magic Bag on Saturday night to catch John Speck and The Fags. Eyes and ears were thrilled with Speck rocking out on not one, but two "Flying V's" - one on loan from former Paybacks' guitarist Marco Delicato. The set opened with The Fags' hit "Truly, Truly". It was a while before another familiar tune surfaced as the band tried out
some hot new material. MCR
is told that a new 7" single is on the way and a full-length may be
hitting stores "sooner than later." Good news for power pop
aficionados everywhere. The band will also be playing the Idol
Records showcase at SXSW on March 17.Opening the show was new rockin' act Back in Spades. No band should be allowed to have TWO absolutely incredible guitarists! Having so much guitar chops on one stage sometimes ends up in a giant mush of sound, but Steve Palmer and Jackson Smith manage to interweave riffs beautifully. Besides, Jackson has come up with the coolest pants in town twice this month! -Ryan Sult |
