Mexicantown DetroitLocated on the city's southwest side at the foot of the Ambassador Bridge, Mexicantown is Detroit's small, but thriving Hispanic community. With a few very popular eatries along the neighborhood's main strip, it is a great place to find some authentic Mexican cuisine. One of the best bargains in Detroit is Gloria's Bakery, offering delicious and affordably priced baked goods. For some homemade tamales, stop into Evie's.

Hotel Yorba Detroit In the rock world, Mexicantown became famous as the home of Jack White and his song "Hotel Yorba". Though he no longer lives in Mexicantown, the story goes that White resided with his two dogs in a home with red walls. --Ryan Sult
