mcr profile
Now here, my friends, is a rock n'roll band. With
Wendy Case's tough, powerful vocal in front of a heavily-guitar driven
sound, The Paybacks lay it down and rock hard. I actually think
they
say it best with their own words: "Grab a
12
pack, crank up the volume, and tell the poseurs and the bullies
to get lost. Rock 'n' roll is fun again."
The band was formed by
seasoned veterans of the Detroit rock scene (The
Hentchmen, Rocket 455, Ten High), and this clearly can be heard in
their mature, well-devloped sound. The Detroit scene is rich with bands
that can rock, but The Paybacks perform on a slightly higher level than
most. They're also working with great material written by Marco
Delicato (former guitarist) and Wendy Case. Wendy has proven her
songwriting chops with several great tunes such as "Just You Wait,"
"Hollywood" and "Vegas." Knock Loud, their first
full-length, was released to critical acclaim in April of 2002.
Be sure you turn it up nice and loud. --Ryan Sult
