The Witches

The Witches Band PhotoTroy Gregory left Detroit in 1986 for a couple stints with metal bands Flotsam & Jetsam and NYC-based Prong. With a stronger passion for punk, noise and free jazz, and a passion for the Motor City, Gregory returned to Detroit in 1992 and formed The Witches in the late 1990′s. Gregory’s new clan has a distinctly 60′s-influenced sound with lyrical rock tunes and catchy guitar riffs. Speaking of guitar riffs – John Nash has the chops to make anyone stop and take a listen.

The band gained notoriety for its impressive list of high profile collaborators on their past few albums. On Let’s Go To The No Go Zone, they got some help from Jim Diamond as well as members of The Volebeats and Outrageous Cherry. Listen for performances by members of Electric 6 and The Sights on Universal Mall. Aliccia Berg, of Slumber Party, provided some backing vocals for 2002′s On Parade.
